about

Finally! After so many years of delays for one reason or another the soundtrack to Shiro Takehiko's existential Japanese sci-fi film THE LAST DRIVE IN (2014) has finally been rereleased!

The Last Drive in follows the life of a Drive In Movie Theatre from the days of whirring 35mm film projectors to the soulless advent of digital projection. The gathering of community and a common love of film and art that only a Drive In Theatre can provide. And when the world outside seems to much the ambient glow of the theatre screen can take you away from everyone and everything.

Set over 400 years the film takes us from 1990 to 2392 as we witness the fall of humanity from within the confines of the Drive In Theatre. Shot using only four static scenes The Last Drive In is a rich and deeply introspective experience.

Never heard of the film? It was scrapped during production in 2010 for "industry reasons". Subsequently it was crowd funded over two years and made piecemeal during this time and, eventually finished late 2013 and released 2014. The film did a brief film festival run through Japan, Europe, Canada and the U.S. in 2014 and then faded into legend and legal woes.

At least we now have the music.
